Football Association of Panjab

Panjab Football Team

The Panjab Football Team was established in 2014 and subsequently joined CONIFA. It is run by the Panjab Football Association – not to be confused with the Punjab Football Association that administers football in the Indian state of Punjab. The Panjab FA is to represent the 10 million Panjabi people living in diaspora around the world – first, the biggest Panjabi diaspora, the one in the United Kingdom with 700,000 people. The Panjabi Football Team entered the 2016 CONIFA World Football Cup, reaching the finals where they led until the 88th minute but eventually were defeated by hosts Abkhazia on penalties.
